What is a HEPA filter?

HEPA stands for “high-efficiency particulate air”. How are HEPA filters tested and certified?

HEPA filters normally have to be tested to certify their ability to trap 99.97 per cent of particles at a size of 0.3 microns, which is the minimum size of most household particles.
